Custom wood-crafter Dale Penn has been crafting pens from domestic hardwoods in Tennessee since 1996. Each pen is individually handcrafted with great care.
Our Round Top Rollerball Pens are crafted from felled trees on the Hermitage grounds.
The Round Top Rollerball is a two-piece pen with a round top which unscrews from its bottom in order to write. Rollerball pens come with a black medium tip ink cartridge. This pen is not a ballpoint; it has an almost liquid-like flow of ink as you write with it.
The ink cartridge is replaced by unscrewing the nib end on the pen, using Schmidt, Hauser, or Zebra brand refills.
An ink cartridge is already loaded and included with each pen.
Wood choices:
- cherry (silver or gold accents)
- walnut (silver or gold accents)
- tulip poplar (silver or gold accents)
Each pen comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, declaring the wood was harvested from trees felled during the 1998 tornado at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage.
A tornado on April 16, 1998, toppled more than 1,200 trees on the Hermitage property. Andrew Jackson himself directed the planting of many of the trees damaged or destroyed by the storm. The majority of the fallen trees were the oldest and largest specimens on site, with an average circumference greater than eight feet.
