About the authors: 

Howie Southworth is a best-selling cookbook author, photographer, media producer and occasional restaurant consultant with pieces published in The Washington Post, Salon, The Alexandria Times (Virginia) and The China Project, among other popular outlets. Outside the written word, Howie has also produced food and travel related media with a variety of creative partners, including Asia Society and various restaurant groups within the DC area, China and Spain. After spending a decade and a half working in higher education, Howie attended culinary school, and eventually changed course to embrace life as a freelance creator in the food space. In addition to traveling the globe to eat, he and his family have lived in many delicious destinations from both coasts of the US to China and Spain and his writing reflects everything he has enjoyed eating and cooking along the way. 

Greg Matza grew up in Los Angeles, weaned on a diet that stretched from Iran to the Philippines to El Salvador—all within a couple of miles from his home. Greg is currently the proud parent of an 80,000 BTU propane burner and a collection of very nice potholders. They all live happily in the San Francisco Bay area.
